Counselling in Norwich and Suffolk
I have been a counsellor since 2010. I use a space on Bethel Street, Norwich, and also near Halesworth in Suffolk.
I did my Masters Degree in Integrative Counselling at Appalachian State University in the USA.
My style of work is Integrative, which means I've integrated aspects of several modalities into one coherent way of working. I have a wide range of tools we can choose from as we work together.
Counselling is about getting to know yourself, and why you feel like you do. You can then develop resources to help you move forward, as well as accept the things you can't change yourself, allowing yourself to be who you are.
Different ways of working have different strengths
Cognitive Behavioural therapies (like CBT) help by making us aware of our thoughts and actions and changing them if needs be. This can be very helpful when we are plagued by negativity and anxiety for example. I offer Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy in this arena.
Person-centred techniques give us space to experience ourselves in a non-judgemental space.
Depth perspectives like IFS, Bill Plotkin's work and Processwork help us see the deeper currents in our lives, which give us meaning and purpose.
When appropriate or asked for, I weave in:
Internal Family Systems or IFS
Dream and Deep imagery work
mindfulness and body awareness
trauma (PTSD) work
Process Work or Process Oriented Psychology (Processwork)
Expressive Arts Therapy
nature-based work or Ecotherapy
self-compassion
spiritual development
